One-Line Bio

Savvy Internet evangelist

I own my own consulting practice, Jordan Carter Ltd. I am an expert at understanding and drawing out the linkages between policy, law and reguation in the Internet, telecommunications and media worlds.

Available for short term engagements.

I'm an occasional tramper & occasional cook; addicted to Twitter; amateur instagrammer (is there any other sort?); love travelling outside Wellington and New Zealand, openly gay.

When it all gets too much, I let go as an occasional blogger at

I'm an engaged citizen. I express my values as a Labour Party member and activist. An elected volunteer role I hold is the secretaryship of the party's Policy Council. In Labour politics, I'd describe myself as being on the moderate left of the party.

Music wise I like Kiwi stuff and Scottish and American indie pop... and some big band exceptions.

Academically: I have a BA/BCom from the University of Auckland (in Geography, Politics and Economics) [2001], and a BA (Hons) (first class) in Politics [2007], and an MA (distinction) in the same [2012], from Victoria University of Wellington.
