Another day, another candidates' forum - this one in the VUW Quad.
Predictable responses from predictable speakers, talking about student support policies in a cold and damp quad. Labour and Greens policies for student support, a nuclear free NZ, dealing with global warming etc went down best with a small student audience.
The only bits which might have been notable or interesting are:
- Marian Hobbs, thanking David Farrar, for chasing her assailant of Tuesday night up Aro St, along with Greg Stephens. Marian concluded that thanks by saying that she recommended "More jogging, less blogging" to David, which earned a laugh :-)
- Mark Blumsky, for failing to ask for the electorate vote at any point in his speech, questions or concluding comments - I thought he was standing for Wellington Central? (Indeed, Marian was the only candidate *at all* to ask for the electorate vote.)
- Destiny Church candidate, for showing up at all. The guy got booed - for everything.
The next meeting in Wellington Central's punishing schedule is tonight, in Karori. The Dominion Post will carry its poll on Wellington Central on Saturday.
I actually thought the Destiny Church guy spoke very well - too bad his views were atrocious. I was booing with everyone else.
Marian was in fine form as usual, and while I disagree with what she says, she had it over Blumksy in terms of quality of speech and rapport with the audience.
I also thought Stephen Franks was good.

What's so unusual with a person thanking another person for attempting to chase down their assailant.

Wrong word, I'll change it to "noteworthy" or "interesting"

its strange how no other candidates turned up with large body guards. i made a point of yelling BOO at the top of my voice while standing in front of them (the 2 destiny thugs in suits).
quad was so damn cold.
unlike other meetings, no one laughed at bernard danton's jokes. Shame

we're all friends at this kindy.
Hobbs likes Blumsky. Blumsky likes Hobbs. Both are so blurry nice about it all that it's a yawn of a campaign, and good too. I wouldn't mind Central becoming less of a battleground seat every single time. I also wouldn't mind a three term MP.
Blumsky by 3,000. I think he just wants to be mayor some more at heart tho.

waiting for tomorrow's poll before making judgement on Welly Central. But I feel Marian in the lead, but I have no real idea.
