Whoever came up with the curse "may you live in interesting times" sure had a point. :) I have a funny feeling that the big losers of this election will be the media and their pollsters - who IMO have set a new low off an already low benchmark (the Herald's local body election non-coverage).

Jordan

"How low can you go?"

"Bloody low mate, I'm a journo."

Jordan

Actually that's a bit mean. I quite like most of the journalists I know. Craig, you're making me say things I don't really mean!

Craig Ranapia

Jordan:

You're speaking to a former Sith Lord... I mean, fine tool of the Fourth Estate... so I know what you mean. I'm sure The Herald is full of perfectly nice people who don't ritually sacrifice virgin kittens before starting work. But, my God, what a dreadful newspaper it is. Seriously, as a fairly new resident of North Shore City, I was depending on the Herald to sound things out around the last local body elections. Fat chance - it was superificial, personality-obsessed (if you want to be generous and say Banks & Hubbard have personalities) and you could be forgiven for thinking the Herald doesn't circulate outside Auckland City. Pretty piss poor for the near-monoolistic daily in New Zealand's largest market.

And it's nice to see the mind control chip I put in your drink is beginning to work. :)

Anyway, a bit of doggerel (by Humbert Wolfe) to perk up your day:

But seeing what

All minor parties up, except UF. That might be a trend that continues if history repeats. UF at 0% would be better.

Greg Stephens

Rogue poll rogue poll rogue poll.

Nah, I think this is probably more reflective of how the country was looking pre-EB. The Progressives have quadrupled in support!

Clark has gone up in prefered PM, which is good. It'll add more votes for Labour thanks to Brash's latest debacle.

Stephen Cooper

Anyone know what NBR shows?

tim barclay

No only the EB affair but the eviction notices sent to state house tenants in Dunedin. How low is that. You do not care about vulnerable people at all. You just see them as voting fodder and if they do not support you, you threaten them.

Aj

" UF at 0% would be better."

Gooner & I agree about something.

Aj

I think the cult EB should stand some candidates.

What % of 4 million is 2,000

Dave

That would be 0.05%, AJ :)

stef

This is going to be a close one either way. Is anyone going to be blogging the election?

Tom S

I hope that after this needlessly close contest Jordan Carter replaces that complacent, passed his use by date Mike Williams as Labour's campaign head.

Millsy

Get over it barclay, you just cannot accept the truth, that National *will* kick out state housing tenants.

Youre a fucking idiot, barclay, who likes to sit at home on the Internet and bitch and whine about how oppressed you are as a red-blood straight male wealth creator.

And your bum buddy dogsbody. Going on and on and on about how the evil commies will steal your precious bodily fluids.

Why dont you fuck off home. You guys are going to win on Saturday, but I warn you, you even try and sell our public hospitals, I will be there, chained to the one up here, in New Plymouth, stopping you.

That is a promise.
