Back from Strasbourg and off to London. It still boggles belief that the whole European Parliament - the staff the MPs and everything - migrate to Strasbourg for plenary but sit in Brussels for committees etc.
Strasbourg's a beautiful city. Well worth a visit. Great built environment, great public transport, friendly open people, nice food... fantastic.
I'll do some political blogging on Monday. NZ pols seems to have been nice and quiet. The UK media are in a bit of a fit about the upcoming European Reform Treaty, one of the things that is worth knowing a bit about if you're interested in European issues.
"NZ pols seems to have been nice and quiet."
You are learning European irony!

Yes we have all spent our allotted $12.75 (our new mandated maximum before we are locked up for SEDITION). Gotta love the Labour Govt, if you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen somehow got twisted to 'If you don't like the heat - make everyone else leave the kitchen'.

Aside from a range of experts blasting the crap out of the Electoral Finance (Gagging of opponents) Bill it has been rather quiet here.

I'd be interested to see what your opinion on the role of the EU parliament. People I know who have lived there tell me that as a new and completely unnecessary level of government it is almost completely corrupt. I'd be interested to hear your option.
